Children & Youth Programs at Pilgrim Church
What is Sunday School Like?
Pre-K through 2nd Grade: We do Godly Play, a Montessori-based curriculum that focuses on storytelling, wondering, play, and creativity. We hear a story using a storytelling set the kids can handle and play with. We wonder about the story together and then work on the story with art or play until our closing circle.
3rd Grade +: Our curriculum explores “Inner Wisdom” and character traits taught by Jesus and other faith teachers. Through conversation, scripture, stories of real-life heroes and heroines, music, video, games and personal connection we will explore themes including humility, joy, courage, and self-control.
Sunday School
We are on! Join us on Sundays for classes offered to children Pre-K through 8th Grade, from the first Sunday after Labor Day through mid-June.
Join us in the sanctuary for our Children’s Message during service. We will then go downstairs together for a lesson, craft or service opportunity, and time of fellowship.
Professional childcare for infants and toddlers to age three is available during service.

Activities include service projects, discussions, interactive games, a fun fall yard sale fundraiser, youth-led Christmas and Easter worship services. There is an annual April vacation or summer mission trip where we spend time helping others while building community with each other. Some of the destinations in the past have included trips to New Orleans, Puerto Rico, New Mexico, D.C., New York and Appalachia to work in partnership with God’s people in need. We have a great trip planned for this year! We welcome you to join us!

Missions & Education Trips
JESUS WORE WORK BOOTS!
During the last week of June our Senior High Youth Group takes its ministry of service to Maine. Building upon past Mission to the Eastward (MATE) service trips in Farmington and the Appalachian Service Project in West Virginia, we bring our home repair skills back to MATE, “reaching the last house on the last road.”
Starting in 2025, every other year we will take a group of teens on a pilgrimage to a place of sacred significance, somewhere around the world.

Youth Small Groups
FELLOWSHIP & FRIENDSHIP
There is always an opportunity to come together for breakfast, discussion, sports games, book groups or service projects. Ask us about creating a small group, or reach out to join one. Meet throughout year, plus special one-time events.
Reach out to let us know you are interested!

“Telling Jesus’ good news about the presence of God among us and passing on the religious language of the Christian tradition feels like the most meaningful work in the world. More than ever, we need to help provide good soil of loving community as we seek meaning, purpose, and identity in this ever-shifting world.”

2025 Summer Youth Pilgrimage: This year, during the last week of June, we embarked on a special pilgrimage to France. We spent three days hiking in the alps before arriving at the ecumenical monastic community Taizé, where we joined thousands of other teens and young adults from around the world for a week of fellowship and growth.
