SPG Progress to Date

- Parish Board approved the formation of a Strategic Planning Group (SPG) in May 2022 to identify priorities for Pilgrim Church’s Christian mission for the next five years.
- The SPG began work in the summer of 2022, focusing on the Church’s core values (Service, Christian Teaching, Worship, Welcome, and Community), as identified by the 2020 and Beyond Committee.
- SPG has an ongoing mission to interview and hold focus groups with members of our congregation and Pilgrim Churches ministers, staff, visitors, and friends. We have interacted with UCC leadership, and leaders of other congregations.
Next Steps
- Prioritize recommendations based on information gathered regarding the strengths of Pilgrim Church and opportunities.
- Identify organizational issues, resource gaps, and impediments to implementation.
- Create suggested system of responsibility and accountability for implementing the plan.
- Share recommendations and findings with Parish Board, the staff, committees, and the congregation to elicit feedback on the proposed plan. Revise and propose final plan.
SPG Report
In May of 2022, Parish Board approved the formation of a Strategic Planning Group (“SPG”) to identify priorities for Pilgrim Church’s Christian mission for the next three years (2024-2027). It charged the SPG to develop a plan to strengthen the engagement and involvement of Pilgrim Church’s congregation and the greater community.
